Cambridge, MA, January 10, 2003 – The Art Interactive, a non-profit exhibition space dedicated to the promotion of art which is contemporary, experimental and participatory, is pleased to present its second major exhibition, Body Double, an exploration of the human body and interactivity. Body Double is on view at the Art Interactive from January 25, 2003 through April 6, 2003. A public reception will be held 6:00pm, Friday, January 24.

Curated by Denise Markonish, Body Double presents the works of Bebe Beard (Boston, MA), Harriet Casdin-Silver (Boston, MA), Henry Kaufman (Cambridge, MA), Brooke Knight (Boston, MA), and Danny Rozin (New York, NY).

Curator Denise Markonish comments, "One of the major components of interactive artworks is the way in which the installations involve the viewer’s body to actually enhance and in some cases complete the artist’s vision. Body Double takes the importance of the body in interactive art and explores it twofold by presenting a series of works that both take on the body as their subject but that also physically depend upon the viewer's body to bring the works to completion."

The artists in the exhibition explore the wide range of ways in which the body is represented in their works as well as experimenting with diverse technologies for viewer interaction.

Bebe Beard will present her new video projection Eidolon #2 a silent video projection of a performance that sways gently as the viewer passes by the dual Mylar screen. In addition to the video piece Beard will also present a portion of her Garg Series a sound/sculpture installation. Harriet Casdin-Silver, a staple of the Boston art scene, will present her body centered holographic images. Henry Kaufman, a member of MIT’s Collision Collective will present his new work The Memory of Your Touch, a screen/computer based projection that physically represents the linger of ones touch on your skin. Brooke Knight will show his Three Mirrors installation, an interactive work that asks viewers to describe themselves and then photograph themselves in the gallery, speaking of the divide between how we think about ourselves as opposed to how we really are. And lastly, Danny Rozin will show three interactive screen-based pieces that act like mirrors, grabbing the viewer’s image and then distorting it through computer technology.
